OUR LEADERSHIP

One of the many unique things about the scouting program is the focus on youth leadership and the idea of "boy run, boy done". Whilst there are adults to ask advice from or help on certain administrative tasks, the youth of the troop plan, coordinate, lead, encourage, and develop the troop. There are many different roles of varying responsibility throughout the troop, some of which who are elected by their peers.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP POSITIONS:

SENIOR PATROL LEADER (SPL): The senior leader in-charge of the troop. Manages meetings, campouts, program, trains and delegates to youth leaders, and much more.

ASSISTANT SENIOR PATROL LEADER (ASPL): The assistant to the current SPL, manages the troops day-to-day operations under orders from the SPL, also filling in for them in case of an absence.

PATROL LEADER (PL):  Leaders of smaller groups (patrols) of around 8 boys, managing the duties assigned by the SPL or ASPLs.

ASSISTANT PATROL LEADER (APL): A scout who will fill in for the PL in case of their absence.

QUARTERMASTER (QM): Manager of the troop trailer and the troops material possessions.

WEBMASTER: Manager of the troop website, promotional material, and online presence.

OA REPRESENTATIVE: Member of the Order of the Arrow (Scout Honor Society) that acts as a liaison for relations and communication between our local scout troop and the Order.

LIBRARIAN: Manager of troop merit badge information, assists in the scheduling of merit badges.

DEN CHIEF: Representative of Troop 216 to younger Cub Scout Packs.

SCRIBE: Writer and document keeper for any troop papers and/or promotional material.

CHAPLAIN'S AID: Youth religious leader.

JUNIOR ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTER (JASM): Traditionally a former SPL or an older, trusted scout, JASMs serve as Assistant Scoutmasters assisting the Scoutmaster in any duties required by them.
