“A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room.” - Lord Robert Baden-Powell
Welcome to Troop 216 out of Marysville, Michigan. We are a very active Scouts BSA troop who conducts monthly campouts and has many different service, leadership, and adventure opportunities. Our troop is dedicated to building strong character and leadership skills in young people through engaging activities, community service projects, and outdoor adventures.
Part of the Michigan Crossroads Council, Troop 216 has been around for over 95 years as it approaches its 100-year anniversary. We host and attend a variety of campouts, some very rugged, some in cabins, some cold, some hot, and much more. The troop takes pride in our summer expeditions such as our Summer Camp hosted yearly where Scouts are given the opportunity to do many things such as earn merit badges, hike, fish, and enjoy parties and other events. One of our more rugged campouts during the summer is our High Adventure Campout, where older Scouts embark a physically and mentally demanding journey but rewards them with an experience of a lifetime. High Adventures take place at a variety of places, some examples of places we have been to are Philmont Scout Ranch, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Isle Royale. We also have a large presence in the Mackinac Island Honor Troop 168.
Troop 216 is boy-run boy-done. The skilled junior leaders of our troop run all of the troop programs. Scouts are broken up into patrols of around 5 Scouts led by an Assistant Patrol Leader and a Patrol Leader. The Senior Patrol Leader oversees the entire troop and gives directions to his two-to-three assistants.
Meetings for Troop 216 are hosted locally in Marysville at Gardens Elementary School at 7:00pm every Monday. If there is no school in Marysville the day of a meeting, presume the meeting is canceled unless stated otherwise. We are chartered by the Marysville Lions Club.
